Cleaning your DPF prevents you from replacing it
Cleaning your DPF prevents you from replacing it
A failure of the particulate filter is a frequent problem of diesel vehicles. Cleaning the DPF is within everybody’s reach!
Depending on your driving habits, the DPF can easily get clogged. If it is, Bardahl helps you avoid its replacement with cleaning solutions! Thanks to our products, you will save on premature extra costs.
What is the use of a DPF?
A DPF is the engine part that captures very fine and harmful particles. It is located on the exhaust gas line and can easily get clogged depending on your driving habits. If you have a malfunctioning DPF, you will fail the technical inspection.
How and why does a DPF get clogged?
The DPF traps the particles present in the exhaust gases and then forms a layer of soot on its walls. After a cycle, a distance or a level of saturation depending on the car manufacturer, your DPF will increase its temperature in order to burn the accumulated soot and carbon deposits.
However, very often, it is not sufficient to eliminate all the carbon deposits present in the DPF.
We strongly recommend that you clean your DPF to prevent any failure. Bardahl offers different cleaning solutions – preventive or curative.
Why should you clean the DPF?
It is quite simple; the maintenance of your engine is essential to increase the lifespan of your vehicle and specially to limit the cost of repair – but not only! Cleaning your DPF with Bardahl products will allow you to:
- Decrease the combustion temperature of soot particles
- Avoid clogging due to accumulation of unburned soot
- Do not alter components (precious metals) that trap and burn harmful particles
- Limit overconsumption, loss of power and avoid the replacement of the particulate filter. In case of a clogged filter, the exhaust gases can no longer escape and the engine stalls
- Make it easier to burn and destroy the soot retained inside the filter
- Extend the lifespan and efficiency of particulate filters
- Help you pass the technical inspection
How to know if the DPF needs to be cleaned?
Prevention is always better than cure. Using our preventive additives, you will prevent your DPF from being clogged. If you do not have this reflex yet, there are many symptoms that can alert you before the engine failure. It never seems to be serious at first, but the consequences can be very expensive if you do not act:
- Loss of power without big smoke
- Orange or red engine/DPF warning light
- Car in degraded mode
- The engine stalls
How to clean and protect your injectors?
Our tips to prevent the DPF from getting clogged.
The estimated cost for a new DPF ranges from € 1,500 to € 4,000 depending on the type.
In order to avoid the expenses related to the replacement of your DPF, there are 2 solutions :
1. Pour the content of one bottle in the fuel tank
Our additives are easy to use, you just need to add them to the fuel as a preventive or curative treatment.
- If you drive in town or only run short distances, use Bardahl DPF cleaner every 5,000 km or once a year.
- If you often drive on highways, use Bardahl Injector cleaner every 10,000 km or once a year.
- It is recommended to drive occasionally at a lower engine rpm. For example, drive at 120km/h in 5th gear instead of the 6th for 15 minutes.
2. DPF and engine cleaning
The most efficient and innovative process on the market to clean the air intake is Bardahl eco-cleaning program!
